3/20
Hit the approach trail this morning. Temperatures dropped to 22 last night, making it a real chilly wake up. Bought an extra stove at the visitor center and was on my way.
Jules, a hiker from Canada, and I took the same shuttle into Amicalola and we ended up hitting the trail together. Waterfalls were cooler than expected, stairs were not my favorite.
Approach trail was around 8 miles, not too strenuous. Reminded me a lot of hiking around the Belknaps which was nice. Weather was incredible, warmed up a lot and I don't think tonight will be as brutal.
Getting to the southern terminus felt great. We were planning on staying at the shelter but it was only 3:00 so we decided to keep on trekking to the Stove Creek Shelter which was an additional 3 hours.
All downhill from Springer, got to the shelter around 4:30ish, and found ourselves a nice tent spot. There were around 7 people already there and probably 8 more come sundown.
Gracious for this shelter to also have a privy, makes me feel like a cub scout again, in awe at the giant pile of shit beneath the porcelain throne.
No clue where we will end up tomorrow
See ya lovelies ;)
