3/23
Woke up and Jules and I really took our time with it this morning. Not a zero day, but definitely wanted to take our time and relax. We headed down to Neels Gap for our resupply.
Quick picture when I got there before the crowd and the sun showed up
We stayed for a couple hours and it quickly became a party. Grabbed a lot of food, and some much needed gear. We then stayed around to feast as everybody else also showed. It was great to reconnect with everybody and talk about the wet day before.
Packs were super heavy on the way out. Really grabbed too much food, but going to try and make sure I'm consuming enough calories each day before our resupply in a couple days.
Really took our time with the 6 miles to the Whitley Gap shelter, the views were amazing along the Ridgeline. The temperature even creeped up to almost 70 degrees. Definitely glad I put sunscreen on my face. When we got down to the gap, King Tut was set up with even more trail magic.
We had some soda, chips, and he even made us some hot ham and cheeses. He also was handing out beanies and this cool microfiber towels. I took the towels but not the beanie cause I already have one.
Took this selfie moments before almost having an accident before I could make it to the privy
Had a super relaxing late afternoon, lots of stretching and lying around. This shelter was a mile off trail but definitely worth it. We were the only people there for a couple miles till 3 people cruised on in at 8:00. Bugs weren't too much of an issue but wish I grabbed some bug stuff at Neels this morning. Definitely a very well needed relaxing day. Stars at night were crazy, but I couldnt get a nice picture. I do like this picture of the sky we took when we first got there.
Hoping for 13 miles tomorrow, until then
See ya lovelies ;)
