3/27 Day 8

What a clean day

At 10:00am Jules, Mimi, Heather and I got picked up at the Blue Ridge Gap by Lennon to get dropped off at the Around the Bend Hostel. 

I wonder why his trail name is Lennon? 
This place was incredible, they had everything you could possibly need. Showers, laundry, soda, candy, food, plenty of gear. The hospitality was incredible. 

Jules and I resupplied in Clayton Georgia, got McDonald's and wayyyyy too much food considering we can resupply in 4 days in Franklin. (I heard there's a brewery ... Might have to make Jules wait outside) We also had a nice McDonald's date. 

The hostel cooked a some jambalaya for dinner and we hung out with the other hikers for the rest of the night. I never want to leave. Definitely a must stay for any future thru hikers out there. 6/5 stars, the staff and everybody here is incredible. 

Sad to leave, excited to continue on. Around the Bend Hostel. Probably one of my favorite nights/days on trail yet. 

Back to the real world tomorrow (12 mile day... Not a bad 9-5)

Travel day Drive down to the airport with Mom, Dad and Shannon, jealous that they were getting donuts and hanging with Miguel after.  Plane got delayed for some reason beyond my comprehension, gave me plenty of time to charge my devices and watch one of the best movies of all time  Sat across the aisle from a really cute baby, not as cute as Miguel obviously Had myself a Pepsi (JetBlue doesn't do coke apparently ...) And bacardi, and slept as well as the baby next to me.  Amanda from the Grateful hiker picked me up where she drove me and a Canadian to the start of the AT. We listened to a quick 10 minute leave no trace talk, officially registered and learned how to properly throw our bear bag.  Spent the rest of the night chatting around the campfire with "Karma" somebody who has hiked  the AT 4 times before. Got some great advice, are some ramen, brushed my teeth and settled in for the night.  Cheers to the r...

Probably the best day on trail Woke up at 3:30 this morning to catch the sunrise on McAfee Knob and it did not disappoint, definitely my favorite view and sunrise of the trail Had some more miles to get into town, had a killer pulled pork salad. Last resupply on trail. Ran into some day hikers, one of them had a son who hiked the trail so she gave me an oatmeal cookie, didn't remember to take a picture till the last bite.  To top it all off, when we left town, we also hit 1/3rd of the way to Katahdin,  Had no idea that I would be able to make it this far, but definitely surprised and happy that I did Until tomorrow 🤙  See ya lovelies

What a glorious zero day, we slept in, had an incredible breakfast, waffles, eggs, bacon and fresh fruit.  Spent the day relaxing, drinking, and brainstorming mileage for my final week on trail.  Resupply tomorrow, then an easy 4 miles back in trail  See ya 😘
